Colcannon unleashes a concert that is intense and intimate, evoking despair one moment and laughter the next.
This five-piece band (vocal/bodhran, fiddle, guitar/mandolin/cittern, flutes and acoustic bass) plays music from the Celtic tradition – with the Irish heart – in a contemporary style that’s both distinct and familiar.
Colcannon, heard on public radio stations across the U.S., Canada and Europe, has recorded six albums, the most recent of which spent three months in the top 10 of the National Celtic Radio Chart. The group was featured in an Emmy Award-winning PBS television special, “Colcannon in Concert,” and their North American tour included appearances at the Merle Watson Memorial Festival and the Live Oak Festival.
A concert with Colcannon includes traditional as well as original songs and instrumentals, performed with all-acoustic instrumentation and presented with warmth, virtuosity and wit.
